Anyone who has ever been frisked by the TSA at an airport, had a package lost in the mail, or had a tax return audited should know why it's a bad idea to have the government in charge of health care. The problem with health care costs isn't that there is too little government insurance, it's that there is too much. Just look at the coverage Congress had given themselves. Lifetime, inflation adjusted, covers everything. Most government employees have health coverage that would make those of us paying for it green with envy.
That's one of the main reasons health care is so expensive. There is a class of fully insured drones in government bidding up the price of everything from checkups to liver transplants. Once you make their $100 deductable, they want it all, they want the best, and they want it now. Of course health care costs go up faster than inflation. There are millions of people with government insurance who will pay any price for it.
The laws of supply and deman will not be conned. Medical resources are limited as are all resources. Once everyone thinks they don't have to pay for them anymore, there will be unlimited demand for those limited resources. The only way to deal with that problem will be to ration the care to those that bureaucrats determine are the most worthy of receiving it. That's why the new bill includes suicide counseling for old folks. It's mandatory once you get old enough. Come on, Gramps, you had your shot, give the youngsters a chance.
Thankfully people appear to be getting wise to the perils of Obama Care. Congressmen and Senators across the country can hardly visit their districts without meeting groups of unhappy constituents protesting the scheme.
